Appliances on the Blink?

How was your Thanksgiving? What a wonderful American tradition…time for taking stock of the abundance so many of us are blessed with. And it’s the gateway to the holiday season, a time for enjoying family, friends, and–of course–food.

Holidays are also a time when a kitchen appliance breakdown can be catastrophic. Pity the poor host whose oven expires when the turkey is roasting or dishwasher dies just before company arrives. Though it’s too late for me to help you if you faced such an event on Thanksgiving, I can point you toward a few resources that can help you handle such a problem if it ever happens again. Better still, they may help you avoid problems like these altogether.

Dishwasher doesn’t drain? See Dishwasher Troubleshooting to fix simple problems. If you’d like help in making a buying decision for a new dishwasher, see the HomeTips Dishwasher Buying Guide.

Range burner on the blink? If so, see DIY Kitchen Range/Stovetop Repairs.

Refrigerator won’t chill? Visit Refrigerators. Here you’ll find an explanation of how they work, what a few common problems are, and how to handle easy fixes.
