HomeTips Wins Google AdSense Story Contest!

In mid-October, Google challenged their world of web ad publishers (how many of us are there…several hundred thousand…a million?) to submit to the AdSense Story Contest a 2-minute video telling our stories. So we jumped into the ring and produced a short video…and guess what…we WON!

Check out the results at: Google AdSense Blog

You can see the video at: HomeTips AdSense Video

Christmas Day, 2007. With the delicious fragrance of standing rib roast wafting from the kitchen, I want to take a moment to thank all of you for inviting HomeTips into your computer monitors…and your lives…over this past year and to wish you all a very merry Christmas and holidays filled with loved ones.

It has been quite a while since I last posted to this blog, mostly because we have been very busy working at making HomeTips an even easier-to-navigate, more information-filled resource for your home improvement needs. Watch for these changes to be coming soon. And with the New Year, I will be turning over a new leaf to keep you posted much more regularly.

Our very best to all of you.

With the busy holiday season here, it is painfully obvious how the pace of our posts has slowed. On top of that, earlier this year we lost our suburban contributor to New York City. So, we’re renewing the call to action! Volunteer for GreenBean and help us expand the scope and depth of our coverage!

Candidates should be knowledgable of the suburban green building market, have sufficient technical expertise to evaluate the validity and novelty of green building claims, and be capable of preparing concise but insightful project analyses. If that sounds like you, please submit a writing sample and qualifications no later than January 18, 2008 to Erik Olsen.

Solid hardwood floors are one of the staples within the flooring industry. Because of the natural beauty and durability of solid hardwood floors, they have been around for centuries. Solid wood floors are a timeless investment that can produce a lifetime of beauty and add value to the home. Wood floors come in Maple, Pecan, Beech, Cherry, Oak, Pine, Birch, Walnut, Hickory and more.

2. Bamboo Flooring

Bamboo flooring is one of the newcomers in the flooring industry. Bamboo is more environmentally friendly than hardwood floors, and it is actually not wood – it is a grass. Bamboo is very durable, elegant and versatile. The natural variations of color that is unique to bamboo come from carbonization and are usually a honey brown color or light tan.

3. Laminate Flooring

Laminate floors are the fastest growing choice in flooring in America today. The laminate flooring received its fame from Europe and now it is increasingly popular here in the United States.
