Axis Mundi Unveils Alternative Design for MoMA Tower

Jenga, anyone? This crazy kaleidoscope of architectural wonder is architect John Beckmann and his firm, Axis Mundi’s alternative (and we mean alternative) vision of the much-discussed 53 W. 53rd site, where New York City’s Museum of Modern Art is planning its expansion. Absolutely unforgettable with its trippy design, the stacked building is an obvious homage to the technicolor treasures that would be housed within its walls. To make things even more interesting, Axis Mundi explains that its concept is a revolutionary way to express and organize tall buildings as Vertical Neighborhoods (imagine taking a row of several city blocks, ripping it out of the ground, and turning it on its side). Does this kooky new design blow famed architect Jean Nouvel’s vision of the MoMA out of the water? You tell us.

The husband/wife design duo responsible for Oeuf (pronounced “like the uff in stuff”) has excitedly announced a new collection of baby furniture. The Robin Collection is European-made with sustainable wood and is treated with water-based paints. We’re told that the French-American, New York-based designer pair struggled and strived to keep the price of the Robin collection down while preserving quality and adaptability. Since, therefore, the possession of such talents due to natural capacity is not vouchsafed at random to entire nations, but only to a few great men; since, moreover, the function of the architect requires a training in all the departments of learning; and finally, since reason, on account of the wide extent of the subject, concedes that he may possess not the highest but not even necessarily a moderate knowledge of the subjects of study, I request, Caesar, both of you and of those who may read the said books, that if anything is set forth with too little regard for grammatical rule, it may be pardoned I shall next describe those that Nature has distributed to the left of the east and in the southern regions.
